Celebrating love through photography is always special, but Saideep and Sony’s 2nd anniversary photoshoot in Wellington was truly unique. Instead of choosing just one location, they envisioned a session that captured the diversity of Wellington’s landscapes — from scenic waterfronts to breathtaking hilltop views.

Their idea was ambitious: a three-hour couples photoshoot across four iconic Wellington locations. The plan included Petone Wharf, Mount Victoria Lookout, the Wellington Botanic Garden, and Makara Beach — each offering a completely different atmosphere for their anniversary celebration.

After weeks of anticipation, the evening rewarded us with a spectacular sunset, making the session even more magical.

Exploring Wellington’s Best Photography Locations

One of the best things about Wellington couples photography is the variety of stunning locations within a short distance. For Saideep and Sony’s anniversary shoot, each location brought a unique visual story to the session.

Petone Wharf – A Charming Waterfront Start

We began the photoshoot at Petone Wharf, a beautiful seaside location known for its long wooden pier and views across Wellington Harbour.

The calm water, soft evening light, and relaxed coastal vibe created the perfect start to the session. As Saideep and Sony walked along the wharf, laughing and enjoying the moment together, their natural connection set the tone for the rest of the shoot.

Petone Wharf is a wonderful location for Wellington couples photoshoots, especially during sunset.

Mount Victoria Lookout – Panoramic Views of Wellington

From Petone, we made our way to Mount Victoria Lookout, one of Wellington’s most iconic viewpoints. With panoramic views of the city, harbour, and surrounding hills, Mount Victoria offers an incredible backdrop for photography.

The golden evening light illuminated the skyline as Saideep and Sony enjoyed the breathtaking scenery together. It’s easy to see why Mount Victoria is a favourite spot for Wellington engagement photography and couples sessions.

Wellington Botanic Garden – A Touch of Nature and Romance

Next, we headed to the Wellington Botanic Garden, a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city.

Surrounded by lush greenery, winding pathways, and vibrant flowers, the gardens offered a romantic and serene setting. This location allowed us to capture softer, more intimate moments between the couple as they strolled through the scenic landscape.

The Botanic Garden is a popular choice for engagement photos and couples photography in Wellington, thanks to its natural beauty and relaxed atmosphere.

Makara Beach – A Magical Sunset Finale

Our final stop was Makara Beach, one of Wellington’s most stunning coastal locations.

As we arrived, the sunset painted the sky with incredible colours, creating a dramatic and unforgettable backdrop. The rugged coastline, rolling waves, and golden light added a cinematic feel to the photos. Watching Saideep and Sony laugh, run along the beach, and enjoy the moment together made the session feel truly special.

Makara Beach is an incredible location for couples looking for dramatic sunset photography in Wellington.

A Special Photoshoot Close to My Heart

This session holds a special place in my heart. It was the first couples photoshoot I photographed after arriving in New Zealand, making it a memorable milestone in my photography journey.

Saideep and Sony’s energy, laughter, and genuine connection made the entire experience joyful and inspiring. With Wellington’s incredible landscapes and a perfect sunset, the evening turned into something truly magical.

Sessions like this remind me why I love capturing love stories through Wellington couples photography.
